so you can plan for plants or animals,
some people do some of each,

if you have animals you just need to find food for them, and many animals can eat things you have no hope of,
they can often eat oak leaves or grass, or creepy insects that you will not eat.
then you can either eat the animal or it's output (like eggs)

with animals you will likely never go hungry,
but you also never get a vacation,
I have no animals to take care of
and the plants are free of care most of the winter,

so ask if having animals is a better path than the plants for where you live.
